Daniel Nick is an ADHD guy so buckle up for the bullet point bio about the Author!

  • Born in the year of some lord 1972 in the month of Emperor Augustus and raised in Maryland, USofA
  • Loved History and Writing in school, much to the chagrin of the science and math teachers, who were foolishly trying to teach their subjects instead.
  • Multi-sport athlete from age 10 through college – football, baseball, bowling, track and field (pole vaulting), kickboxing, martial arts
  • Bachelors in Theatre while working nights as a bouncer in Baltimore and D.C.
  • Appeared in lots of community theatre and college theatre
  • Masters in Special Education Pedagogy (almost – long story)
  • Martial arts student since 1980 – still going
  • 7 years teaching high school special education
  • 30+ years teaching martial arts
  • Travelled by motorcycle across North America several times (briefly became internet famous in France because of it – don’t ask)
  • Over ten thousand nautical miles sailed on sailboats
  • Set up on a blind date – fast forward three years – Got married to his best friend, Elizabeth
  • Visited many countries for martial arts related trainings and teaching, including Myanmar (see elephant kiss)
  • Created a fully adapted and inclusive martial arts program for students of all abilities to train together on the mats. (This is the thing, right here. I may die tomorrow, but I did this. It matters) .
  • Ran an inclusive martial arts school full time successfully for 12 years and through COVID
  • Became the representative for the International Thiang Bando Association for the Americas. (martial arts thing)
  • In the year 2020 etc, etc, sold his house and bought a sailboat with the wife
  • Sailed for three years – across the Gulf of Mexico, up to Maryland, down to Puerto Rico, all around the Caribbean Islands, and back to Texas.
  • Finally writing his novels, short stories, novellas, etc. Some of these unfinished stories are over twenty years old.
  • Still teaching inclusive and adapted martial arts part time.
  • Describe an ADHD life in three words or less? No, but here are three anyway: Teacher, Artist, Traveler.
